The French navy in the Levant according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 29 September 1821

Constantinople, 21 August. Fifty ships loaded with grain under French flag passed the Dardanelles 18, 19 and 20 August where outside the entrance the French corvettes la Lamproie and la Lioune were waiting to escort them.

Smyrna, 17 August. The French vice admiral Halgan left 8 August with the frigates la Guerriere and la Fleur de Lys towards Salonika. The corvette l’Arriege was earlier sent to the neutral island Chio with on board the Russian consul at Smyrna, his family, chancellor, first dragoman or interpreter and the archives of the chancery office. The corvettes l’Echo, l’Active and la Bonite were lying in the harbour of Smyrna.
