Russian cruiser Krasni Krim (1913-1960)


Ex-Profintern, ex-Sovarkom, ex-Klara Zetkin, ex-Svetlana, renamed June 1915. Built under the 1912 navy program and laid at the Baltic SB 24 November 1913, launched 21 November 1915 and completed 1 July 1928. Germany claimed later that she was sunk off Sevastopol February 1942. This was not true, she survived the second World War, since 7 March 1945 serving a a training cruiser and finally decommissioned in 1958 and broken up in 1960. Originally were there 6 cruisers of the so-called Svetlana-class to be built, finally just two units were completed.

Displacement 6,934 tons and dimensions 507 3/4 x 50 1/3 x 18 1/3. Her crew numbered 624 men. Armed with 15-5.1" guns, 8-4" anti aircraft guns, 6-37mm anti aircraft guns, 14 machine guns, 4x3 21" torpedo tubes, 100 mines and 2 aircrafts. Armour existed of 2" belt amidships, 1" deck, 3" gun shields and 3" conning tower. The Parsons turbines and 13 Yarrow boilers provided 50.000 hp allowing a speed of 29.5 knots. Coal capacity was 540 tons, and fuel capacity 690 tons making a range of 470 miles with full speed and 3.700 miles with 14 knots possible.
