The Turkish navy in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 16 July 1844

According to tidings from Constantinople dated 26 June agreed the Divan with the Pasha of Egypt to set up a regular steamboat service between Alexandria and Constantinople. While there were none Turkish ships available were for the time being two Egyptian vessels used.

According to tidings from Mitylene departed 16 June the Grand Admiral with his squadron of 5 large and some smaller warships towards Syria.
