The British discovery vessels Griper and Snap and the British squadron off Algiers according to the Nealgderlandsche Staatscourant dated 27 July 1824

London, 23 July. The corvette Griper (1) captain Lyon arrived 29 June at Stromness at the same time with the Snap (2) commanded by lieutenant Bullock. Both ships departed the 3rd towards the Hudson Strait and the coast of Terreneuve. The Griper was to stay during the winter at Repulse while his captain and company from there should start a discovery journey.

Yesterday arrived tidings from Gibraltar reporting that the gunboats and bomb galliots left towards Algiers and it was suspected that when they arrived the actions against that city were started.
