This newspaper received tidings that all ready in December two of the six old British monitors rebuilt as oil tankers were expected to be used for the transport of crude oil between Maracaibo and Curacao.(1)

1. Another Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad evening edition dated 15 November 1921 reported that the General Asphalt Company (Royal Shell) in Venezuela daily produced around 5,000 barrels. This production was just called nominal considered the available capacity but which was caused by the insufficient transport facilities via the waterways. This transport was now executed with monitors while a maximum draught of 11 foot was demanded. Specially tankers for this transports were now build and as soon as these were completed would the production be increased.
