British warship HMS Snake versus Portuguese slavers off Jamaica according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 15 September 1838

The Jamaican newspaper the Watchman dated end of July reported that earlier the British warship Snake captured two Portuguese slavers, one of them with 250 slaves on board who were able to find work on a plantation. According too two female slaver they were first treated well but as soon as enough victuals were lacking the slaves were feed with the flesh of other slaves who died on board.
