British warships captured slavers off African coast according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 22 March 1826

London, 18 March. An officer of the British brig Redwing (1), written 9 October while off Cape Formosa, Africa, reported the capture by the sloops the 6th after a heavy fight of two Spanish ships, namely the Theresia and the Isabella, which just left with 531 slaves on board the river Calabar. Two other ships, namely the French la Jeune Caroline with 450 and the l’Evelina with 202 slaves on board escaped. The Maidstone hold up 6 September a French ship with 700 slaves still on board, while another 300 were embarked by the master on a lighter.
