The French frigate la Sirène in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 17 July 1824

Madrid, 6 July. According to the newspaper l’Etoile reported the British frigate Syrene the expected arrival of bomb galliots and steam vessels to attack Algiers. (1)

1. There must be an error in this news item. According to Colledge was the 32-gun frigate Syren broken up in 1822. Probably it was the French frigate la Sirène, laid down 1803, launched 1805, ex-l’Amphitrite renamed 1805, ex-la Milanaise renamed 1814 and last mentioned 1837.
