The French navy off the Mexican coast according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 20 August 1838

The French prince de Joinville was appointed to the rank of corvette captain and given the command of the 24-gun corvette la Créole. The prince intended to leave next week for Brest and was to join within short time the blockade squadron off the Mexican coast commanded by rear admiral Baudin.
