Pisa-class design
Ordered 1909, laid down at the Orlando Shipyards at Livorno, Italy 27 February 1910, launched 12 March 1910, commissioned 1 September 1911 and decommissioned 1 August 1952. She was originally intended for the Italian navy.
Part of the Italian called Pisa-class armoured cruisers with a displacement of 9.956 tons standard and 10,200 tons full load and as dimensions 140,13 x 21 x 7,18m. The 2 four cylinder engines and 22 water tube Belleville boilers provided 19.000 ship allowing a speed of 20 (operational-23,5 (maximum) knots. With a speed of 17,5 knots she had a range of 2.480 nautical miles. Her crew numbered 670 men with enough space for a maximum of 1.200 men. She was originally armed with 4-9.2” guns, 8-7.5” guns, 16-3” guns, 4-47mm guns and 3-17” torpedo tubes. Her armament after a rebuilding in France 1925-1927 was 4-9.2” guns, 8-7.5”guns, 8-3” guns, 4-3” anti aircraft guns and 6-36mm anti aircraft guns. Her armour existed of a 80 (ends)-200 (amidships) mm belt, maximum 40mm deck, maximum 180mm barbettes, maximum 180mm conning towers and 175 (7.5” guns)-200 (9.2” guns)mm gun turrets.
