Paris, 26 July. The Greek navy consisted mainly out of merchant brigs of Hydra, Ipsara and Spezzia with strength of around 80 ships and mainly fitted out by private contributors. The Greek sailors are brave and adroit. Probably their fleets couldn’t wing a regular sea battle against the Turkish but their warfare at the moment was the most profit for them. If the Greek navy was joined by another 4 frigates, 3 or 4 steam vessels, some bomb galliots and a large number of privateers she should be able to resist nearly all navies.
