The navies of Bolivia/Peru and Chile according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 21 July 1838

The government of Peru and Bolivia decided to blockade Valparaiso beginning 18 August. As a reaction the Chilean government decided to blockade the Peruvian harbours Callao, Chorillis and Ancon and a small fleet with 1.88-2.000 men on board left in April Valparaiso to attack Callao.
