Laid down at the Yantar Zavod 820 yard at Kalingrad on 5 February 1986, launched on 4 June 1987 and commissioned on 30 December 1988 in the Pacific fleet. Her pennant was 572.

Specifications of this Udaloy Vinogradov (project 1155R class are a displacement of 6,930-6,945 tons standard, 7,570-7,585 tons normal and 8,404 tons maximum with as dimensions 145,00 (waterline)-163,50 x 17,20 (waterline)-19,00 x 5,19 (hull)-7,70 (maximum) metres. Their armament consisted of a combination of guided missiles and guns, the latter including 2x10cm guns and 4x3cm gatling anti aircraft guns.
