Tunis, a Tuscan brig and a Greek privateer according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 6 September 1824

Tunis, 21 July. A Tuscan brig was in April searched by a Greek privateer and had to hand over the belongings of Moorish and Jewish inhabitants of Tunis. The brig was still anchored at Goletta until she paid the amount of 60.000 Tunisian piasters as compensation for the belongings. The Bey claimed that the master was a thief who agreed with the Greek privateer while the latter paid for the freighting of the belongings. More seriously the Bey didn’t care if the result was a war with Tuscany.
