American naval base at San Pedro according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland morning edition dated 10 February 1933

According to naval authorities at San Pedro ordered the department of navy an investigation what the possibilities were to fit out San Pedro, California as a naval base for the navy.  Admiral Leigh advised the department to appoint two vice admirals with this investigation. Major reason for this project was the need of an increased security in times of war, decreasing expenses and more convenience for the navy.
