British naval policy according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 17 January 1914

Haldane (1) confirmed at Hoxton that the British cabinet didn’t intend to weaken the navy by changing the standards so obvious approved by the Parliament. A decrease in armament was just possible while cooperating with other countries. Experiences in the past taught clear that if one country started the disarmament before other countries this did the results were negative. The British cabinet still choose for a naval policy of maintaining a fleet with a 60% majority compared with the next largest naval power.
