The disaster with the French navy airship E9 according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland morning edition dated 5 April 1933
Just after the disaster with the American navy airship Akron wrecked the French airship E9. The latter was stationed at Rochefort, Frabce and made a forced landing near the fortress Saint Mauf (department Loire inférieure) during a trial flight caused by engine problems in a heavy storm. As a result of the forced landing she broke into two parts with just the captain and a midshipman wounded of the crew which numbered 12 men. The E 9 just a few months earlier commissioned was of the so-called semi rigid type with a volume of 10.000M3. The daily edition dated 23 October 1933 reported that at Rochefort-sur-Mer the new navy airship built to replace the recent lost airship had a successful trial. She was of the semi rigid with a comparable volume.
