The naval expert of the British newspaper Daily telegraph wrote on 26 February from London that the Russian submarine fleet was the largest of the world and still been increased. According to him possessed the Soviet Union in the beginning of the year 40 submarines in the Northern Pacific and 90 in the Baltic while the USA, France and Italy possessed respectively 100, 92 and 87 submarines. Every month was a new submarine added to the Russian Pacific fleet causing on a large scale concern in Japan with such a large fleet nearby.
Another Dutch newspaper the Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 13 March 1937 referred to what commissar Woroschilof said. He mentioned the same figures for the Pacific and the Baltic and the new submarines monthly but just like the other news item nothing was said dealing with the Black Sea Fleet.
