The Turkish and Egyptian navies according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 8 August 1839

The Sultan was asked for permission that Austria, England and France were allowed to enter the Dardanelles. From Paris came 3 August some interesting news. In Marseille was a message dated 16 July received out of Alexandria, which confirmed that, the 4th the Turkish fleet was presented to Mehemet, Pasha of Egypt. Mehemet refused to return the fleet unless the grand vizier Chosrew-Pacha removed. This removal should make Mehemet in fact independent ruler in the countries he reigned.
