British corvette HMS Icarus arrived at Portsmouth with tidings from Rio Janeiro according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 4 June 1821

London, 29 May. The corvette HMS Icarus arrived Saturday coming from Brazil at Portsmouth.(1) She sailed in 52 days from Rio Janeiro towards the Scilly isles when unfavourable winds prevented to continue the voyage. She bought with her tidings dealing with the capture of Lima by Lord Cochrane and General San Martin. According to the rumours were two frigates of Cochrane destroyed by the batteries of Callao.

1. A 10-gun brig sloop of the Cherokee-class with a builders measurement of 234 tons. Launched at the Portsmouth Dockyard 18 August 1814 and sold 4 April 1861.
