Commodore Porter and his anti-pirate squadron according to Niles’Weekly register dated 28 December 1822

Thanks to the fact that nowadays more and more books are digitized we are able to read books that are some times for decades no longer available for the public for several reasons. That’s quite a pity while these books contains useful information while the archives are destroyed, incomplete or nor accessible.

P. 257: “Com, Porter is already in motion, he arrived in Baltimore on Thursday evening last week, and, as it were before any one knew that he was here, he had purchased and sent off to Norfolk, all the light vessels designed to act against the pirates. They sailed in less than 48 hours after he reached this city. The next day he proceeded to the north in search of a steam-boat.”
