Trieste, 6 February. According to the latest tidings from Alexandria was the second fleet destined for the Greek waters especially Candia fitted out by the pasha of Egypt consisting of 6 large warships and around 20 vessels of smaller sizes. On board were several thousands of soldiers and a large amount of stores and victuals.

The Russian ships coming from the Black Sea hoisted all Austrian or French flags. The Porte deliberately ignored this to protect this important trade.
