Movements of the Maltese, Spanish and Venetian navies in the Levant according to the Dutch newspaper Opregte Groninger Courant dated Tuesday 10 July 1759
Genoa, 18 June. According to tidings from Cadiz left 7 Spanish ship of the line and one 40-gun frigate Cadiz and six other ones Ferrol to act against the African pirates and any one who wanted to inspect a Spanish vessel. From other Spanish harbors would depart other small squadrons with a similar task. Finally a fleet consisting of 36 ships of the line and 12 newly built frigates of the 1st would to be assembled. Last Tuesday returned the 80-gun Venetian ship of the line H. Carel after a cruising voyage with three Maltese galleys against the Barbary States.
