Rumours arrived yesterday from Paris, dated 16 July, that the French and Turkish fleets collided in a battle in the Bay of Tunis. A paper from Marseille gives quite other information. The Turkish fleet, commanded by the Kapudan Pasha, arrived the 22nd of May off Tripoli. She consisted of 29 ships including 19 transports and 3500 men were set on shore. The rumours were caused by the usual salute shots fired by the French ships when the Turkish arrived!
