Naval operations of the Dutch East Company off the West Coast of Sumatra according to the Generale Missive dated 10 February 1733

The yacht Binnenwijzend transported 160 slaves from Madagascar towards to Singkel, 30 died underway. The Linschoten arrived 23 January with 955 taël gold and 76.000 lb benzoë, with a total value of fl. 83.220. The Linschoten brought 264 last zout towards Padang of which cargo 35½ last was missing. The British brigantine Hopewell visited Baros 16 December 1732, while underway towards Benkulen. Two ships were sent towards Nias for buying victuals considering the scarcity at Baros. The boats were enforced with soldiers to destroy the salt ‘distilleries’ at Pulau Musala. A Dutch sampan lost in a fight with smugglers in the river of Sorkam 3 men.
