The possibility of a Commonwealth naval base at Darwin, Australia according to the Dutch newspaper Schiedamsche Courant dated 2 April 1925

Rear admiral Hall Thompson member of the Australian Navy Board who attended the latest conference by the admirals at Singapore said during a reception at Darwin that except for Singapore probably a second fleet base in the Far East was to be founded and namely at Darwin. Singapore was as soon as the naval base was completed impregnable.
