The Bayan-class consisted of just four ships the Bayan (two ships with the same name), the Admiral Makarov and the Pallada. The second Bayan was laid down at the Admiralty yard at St. Peterburg 11 June 1905, launched 2 August 1907, commissioned in 1911 and broken up in Germany in 1922. The Pallada was at the same yard built in contrary to the first Bayan (laid down in 1899, sunk by the Japanese during the Russian-Japanese war but salvaged and as the Aso taken in Japanese naval service) and the Admiral Makarov which were built in France.
With a displacement of 7,750 tons or 7,031 tons were the dimensions 137 x 17,5 x 6,7 metres. The vertical triple expansion engines joined by 26 Belleville coal-fired boilers supplied 16,500 shp allowing a speed of 21 knots while with a speed of 10 knots her range was 3,900 nautical miles. Their crew numbered 573 men. Their armament consisted of 2-8” guns, 8-6” guns, 20-75mm guns and 2-18” torpedo tubes. Their armour except for the first Bayan consisted of a maximum 175mm thick belt, 132mm gun turret, deck up to maximum 30mm and 60mm casemates.
