The Turkish and Egyptian navies according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 2 September 1837

According to tidings from Smyrna dated the 6th fled the pirates in all directions when the fleet commanded by the Kapudan Pasha arrived. There was no news dealing with a possible departure of the Egyptian fleet.
