Greek frigate Kriti (1940) 1943-1959 and British HMS Hursley 1940-1943/1959-1960


Pennant in Greek service 48. With a displacement of 1,070 tons/1,050 long tons (standard)-1,450 tons/1,430 long tons (full load) tons were her dimensions 279’10 (over all)  x 31‘6“ x 7 5/6-8’3” or 85,3 x 9,6 x 2,51 metres feet. The Parsons geared turbines and 2-3drum boilers supplied 19,000 ship allowing a speed of 25 (at sea)-29 (design) knots and with a bunker oil capacity of 280 tons a range of 3,700 nautical miles with 14 knots, 2,500 nautical miles with 20 knots and with the maximum speed of 25 knots 1,250 nautical miles. The armament consisted of 3x2-4” guns, 1-4 barrelled multiple pompom, 2-2cm anti aircraft guns and 4 D.C.T. in Greek service

As part of the Hunt type II escort destroyers was she laid down as the HMS Hursley on 21 December 1940 at the shipyard of Swab, Hunter&Wigham Richardson Limited at Tyne and Wear, England, launched on 25 July a year later and completed on 2 April 1942. Lent to Greece on 2 November 1943 was she given back to England on 12 December 1959 and sold on 27 April of he next year to be broken up in Greece.
