Building dreadnoughts worse idea said British lord Beresford according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag: kleine courant dated Monday 24 May 1909

HMS Dreadnought

The former British admiral lord Charles Beresford which had original thoughts of himself dealing with naval policy stated in a speech that building dreadnoughts was a large mistake of England. In the past was England with her numerous number of ships of the 2nd rank the major naval power and no other country would try to obtain that position. Now started England building a type of warships so strong and large that the whole fleet of other ships and vessels became useless. Other countries also start dreadnoughts and the advance of England wasn’t large enough to prevent concurrency. Why wasn’t the dreadnought keep secret instead of advertising with the motto this ship makes all navies useless. The result was clear, immediately were keels laid down by other navies.
