According to an item dated Copenhagen 13 November was the restoration of the Danish navy first priority of the government, At the so-called Bodenhofsplaats were all ready the keels laid down of 7 gunboats of which 2 were to launched within short time and in the other Danish sea harbours was equally everything done with this purpose. There were some passes given to royal shipwrights and masters destined for Gluckstadt and the island Fuhnen [Funen].The first transport with 110 Danish sailors arrived two days ago from Holland [the Netherlands !], 4 others of similar strength were from the same destination expected. The Dutch king seemed to have done everything to make this transport possible. The newspaper Politiven reported that a flotilla of 400 row gunboats and 12 batteries for support capable were to defend the whole of Denmark including Copenhagen , Seeland and so on and control the Sont and the Baltic mouths. The costs of such a gunboat were around 4,000 rix excluded the guns and building costs of such a flotilla were estimated to be 1.600.000 rix.
The crown forbade the export of timber suitable for building, to sell oak wood or oak trees suitable for shipbuilding without permission of the Admiralty and Commissary Colleges and to use oak wood for coffins.
The Danish privateers continued in the meantime their harassing of the British shipping. Last Monday captured 4 fishing boats with letters de marque a large British 3-master of 132 last coming from the Baltic and loaded with timber for shipbuilding purposes. Although her crew of 13 men resisted for a shore time the privateers she was still captured. The privateers had each a crew of 8 men armed with pistols, firearms and sables.
