The American Newbury whaling company according to the Gazetteer of the state of New York of 1836

When Thomas Francis Gordon described Newburg in his Gazetteer of the state of New York (Philadelphia, 1836) he wrote on page 606 that there existed in this town a whaling company which was allowed to have a capital of 200,000 dollars of which 115,000 dollars paid in employing 3-350 tons ships and further more a large wharf and storehouse.
