France building own nuclear submarine according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwsblad van het Noorden dated 31 May 1963

An item reported that a day earlier the French Department for nuclear and space affairs announced that in 1964 the prototype of the reactor for a nuclear submarine would be serviceable.(1) The research centre for nuclear science was officially opened by the minister Gaston Palweski despite the fact that this centre was already three years although or a smaller scale. Minister of Defence Pierre Messmer (2) aid earlier that the first French nuclear submarine would be operational in 1969 and to be armed with launchers for 16 nuclear missiles similar to the American Polaris-design.
