An item dated New York 29 January reported that the Mexican government to reduced her expenses intended to decommission her small navy consisting of some cruisers, a few gunboats, transports and a number of coastal vessels. The newspapers Het Vaderland and Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant both dated 29 January confirmed this item.
