An item reported that on board of a transport with Siberian exiles mutiny broke caused by the inhuman mistreatments by the commanding officers. The transport was at that moment on the Lena river towards Yakoetsk. The convicts disarmed and tied down the escort on hands and feet and seemed to have beaten the commanding officer with a whip. On a piece of paper nailed on the door of the cabin they wrote their complaints, leaving the ship drifting on the river when they went on shore. The local population helped them. The next day was the ship found and the escort freed. The governor of Yakoetsk sent a strong military force to search for the refugees of which two were killed and five taken prisoner. The minister of internal affaires ordered an investigation.
