The Newburgh Whaling Company according to the The New-York annual register of 1836

On page 328 was the Newburgh Whaling Company of Orange County described. She had a capital of 200,000 dollars of which 120,000 dollars were paid in. Her secretary was James Belknap and her agent at Newburg captain Bailey. There were three ships employed namely the Portland of 292 tons and 24 men in the South Atlantic Ocean, the Russell of 386 tons and 25 men and the Illinois of 500 tons and 32 men, the latter two in the Pacific Ocean.
