British transport Canadia with Boer prisoners of war underway to St. Helena Island according to the Dutch newspaper Zierikzeesche Nieuwsbode dated 19 June 1902

An item reported that Mr. P. Rijsdijk of Sliedrecht, Netherlands asked the Dutch consul at London which prisoners of war were first to be transported. The answer was that last Saturday the transport Canadia left Southampton to disembark troops at Gibraltar and would continue her voyage towards St. Helena Island to transport the prisoners.

1. The Second Boer War found place between 11 October 1899 and 31 May 1902 and ended in a defeat of the Boers and regaining British sovereignty of the Orange Free State and South African Republic (Transvaal). In 1920 became the Union of South Africa part of the Commonwealth.
