Peru allowed USA using German interned merchant ships acording to the Dutrch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 6 September 1918

An item dated Lima 6 September reported that the American Congress approved the agreement signed between Peru and the USA dealing with the use by the USA of the German ships interned at Callao.(1)

Another Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad dated 11 September reported that the treaty was signed on the 7th and that there were ten German ships (6 steam and 4 sail) with a total capacity of 25,000 tons interned.

The newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 16 June published an item dated Lyon 15 June referring to tidings from Lima that the Peruvian cabinet seized the German ships at Callao by sending soldiers on board. The newspaper Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad dated 18 June published an item dated London 17 June referring to the newspaper Daily Mail that at Callao six interned German ships were seized included three large mailers.
