Spanish troop transport San Ignacio harassed by death according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 23 September 1898

An item reported that the steamship San Ignacio which embarked at Cuba 1,000 Spanish soldiers arrived in Spain while underway 123 men died. Spain claimed that these large losses were caused the Americans forcing to take the sick and wounded with this transport to obtain more hospitality facilities for their own troops.
