England decided to decrease British naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 12 November 1957
An item referred to the British newspaper Daily Mirror which reported that the British cabinet decided to an large decrease of the naval shipbuilding program. An order for the building of seven frigates was cancelled and the conversion of 45 destroyers dating from the Second World War into fast submarine chasers was stopped although 15 units needed still this conversion. The four missile submarines of which three recently completed were to be disarmed and the plans to convert the aircraft carrier Warrior into a helicopter carrier were to be changed. The building of four guided missile ships and 3-9,500 tons cruisers was however to be continued.
