New American naval program according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilbursche Courant dated 30 May 1924

An item reported that the US House of Representatives approved the same day a law dealing with the increase of the US navy regarded the limits of the Naval conference at Washington.(1) The US cabinet was allowed to built 8 scout cruisers, 6 river gunboats and extended improvements of six battleships. Total costs 111.000.000US dollars.

1. Held between 12 November 1921 and 6 February 1922 as an initiative of the American president Harding and at which conference were present the USA, Japan, China, France, England, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and the Netherlands. All those countries had interest in either the Pacific Ocean or East Asia. The results of this conference were three major treaties of which the well known Washington Naval Treaty between the five major naval powers of that moment.
