An item referred to vice admiral Woodward (1) who discussed during a speech at Washington the effects of the communistic propaganda on the US navy. This propaganda became a real threat for the national defence. American naval bases and foreign ships visiting the USA suffered from a systematic spread of pamphlets calling for uprising. He feared for sabotage during the building of warships due to the scale on which communists persuaded civilian and naval personnel working on the navy shipyards to act against their government.
Note
1. Clark Howell Woodward nicknamed Woody (4 March 1877 Atlanta, Georgia-1968 Arlington, Virginia), was not vice admiral but in 193 still rear admiral.
