Sverige
An item reported that the backbone of the Swedish navy was formed by ten coastal defence cruisers of which the largest were the Gustaaf V, Drottning Victoria and the Sverige (1), all of around 7.000 tons and build in 1915-1918, the newest large unit was the cruiser Gotland (2) of 4.775 tons dating from 1933. Further more were fourteen destroyers, 31 torpedo boats, 14 submarines and a large number of smaller vessels available. An important part of the Swedish defence was the coastal defence resorting under naval command with as centre the fortresses Vaxholm (near Stockholm), Karlskrona, Alvsborg (near Gotenburg) and Hemsö.
