British tanker San Florentino torpedoed according to the Dutch newspaper Limburger Koerier dated 7 March 1940

An item reported that the British tanker San Florentino of 12,842 gross tons was torpedoed off Lands’ End. More details were not known.

Ltd. of London, Built in 1919 with a gross registers tonnage of 12.842 tons, a deadweight of 19.540 tons and as dimensions 557’0” x 68’8” x 32’3” and a speed of 10,o knots. In contrary to the news item says Jordan that she was torpedoed on 1 October 1941 by the German submarine U 94, a day later again torpedoed costing the life of 22 men of a crew numbering 56 men and finally still floating destroyed by the American coast guard cutter Campbell.
