Dutch frigate Hr.Ms. Vos (F 820) 1954-1984


Part of the so-called Roofdieren-class which were small frigates also called coastal escort vessels. It were former US patrol craft vessels in 1954 transferred to the Netherlands according to the Mutual Defence Assistance/Aid Program and since then used for escort-, coast guard and fishery patrol duties. With a displacement of 945 (loaded) tons and as dimensions 56,27 x 10,29 x 2,95 metres. The diesels supplied 1.600 hp while driving two screws allowing a speed of 15 knots. Their crews numbered 65 men and the armament consisted of 1-7,6cm gun, 2-4cm guns, 2-2cm guns, hedgehog and 2 depth charge launchers.
