Dutch bark ship Weltevreden homeward bound according to the Dutch newspaper Javasche Courant dated 14 November 1840

The website http://www.scheepsindex.nl/schip.php?i=5343 reports that she was built in 1836 at the shipyard of Jan Smit Fz in Slikkerveer for Fop Smit, Kinderdijk and that she was sold in 1862 to Norway. The newspaper Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 2 December 1836 reported her launching on 28 November by shipbuilder Jan Smit of this coppered bark ship of around 400 lasten at the shipyard in Slikkerveer near Ridderkerk. Her captain was J.C.F. Lupoki. Theis shipyard was in the spring founded. The newspaper Nieuws Amsterdamsch handels- en effectenblad dated 6 May 1862 reported that her captain J.J. Dunker a musk cat (Viverra Zibetha) gave to the zoo in Rotterdam. This is the large Indian civet living in Southeast Asia, nowadays near threatened.
