Egyptian naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuw Israelitisch weekblad dated 11 December 1959

An item reported to tidings from naval experts in London that the Egyptian navy in the last months was strengthened and no consisting of two ultra modern Skory-class destroyers, two Zet-class destroyers, all built by the Soviet Union, a Hunt-class destroyer, six minelayers, three minesweepers, forty torpedo boats, two submarines?, eight large seagoing Russian W-class submarines and a M-class submarines. Most Egyptian units were built in the Soviet Union and the main officers were of the Russian or Polish nationality. On board of the submarines were according to estimations fifteen officers and non-commissioned officers with a non-Egyptian nationality.
