An item dated Paris 25 March reported that minister Piétri (1) stated in the French parliament that he would respect the Naval Treaty of Washington (2) despite it was declaimed. He would enjoy the day when it became possible to decrease the defence but at that the moment this was just a dream. In his opinion was the battleship the centre of the defence and her navy made France still powerful and in peace.
