Russian dredgers built at Dutch shipyard Conrad at Haarlem according to the Dutch newspaper Haarlem’s Dagblad dated 1898

The edition dated Thursday 9 June reported that in the so-called buitenhaven of IJmuiden the at Haarlem build dredger Michael Tufajefski was tested in the presence of Russian engineers dealing with her dredging performance. The next day were the tests continued on the North Sea canal off Buitenhuizen. Her destination was St. Petersburg, Russia.

The edition dated Saturday 1 October published an announcement reporting that the dredger Alexander Betticher was lying ready for her departure towards Riga within a few days. She was the largest dredger ever build in the Netherlands and could be visited on Sunday 2 October between 10.00-12.00 and 13.00-16.00 o’clock against the payment of ƒ 0,25 on behalf of funds for the yard personnel.
