Ships Rankin and Wilkonson lost according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 24 November 1858

A sea tiding dated St. Johns 9 November reported that the ships Rankin captain Mc Intyre underway from Quebec towards London, England and Wilkinson captain Ditchbirn underway from Quebec, Canada towards Holyhead were both left in sinking state. Her crews arrived at St. Johns.
